From the development of Four walls and the use of significant things in the image. I developed into the idea of exploring the difference between a room in a different generation, my sisters and a room in My Generation, my room. My sister is very different in the sense that she wasn't brought up thinking her room was going to become a safe place and the only time she spent most of her time there was during exam revision. I wanted to show the lack of intimacy in my sisters room as opposed to my bedroom which explains my personality, my sister's room is very 'Normal.' I captured all the parts of her room where she is most e.g. her desk. It has only been recent since my sister has been confined to her room as exams are starting but she will do anything to get out her room because she wasn't infatuated with the idea that it could become a safe place. In these shots I had the intentions of documenting the important things in my sister's bedroom. I have used a shallow depth of field in most images and natural lighting.
The composition of this image is very effective in the way the whole desk and the contents on it are not all included and seem to be chopped off from both sides, this was intentional because I tried to show how the desk can get so full and over loading with so many things a picture cannot capture it all. It does effect the image as it highlights things more than others on the desk such as the folder and the laptop, are both very noticeable. In this image I used natural lighting but adjusted the contrast of the image as I wanted to create a tranquil atmosphere and show a lack of safety within this room. The shadows printed on the wall create such an atmosphere it almost seems quite intense. I used a shallow depth of field in this image enabling everything to be in focus and capture contents of a desk. To be able to get a significant part of the desk I took the image from above like a birds eye view because viewers are able to look down on it to see how it feels to be sat at the desk, as in my sister see's this when she sits at her desk. It changes the perspective so much because if it was shot from the side we wouldn't get any front pages or texture created from the desk.
Further Development:
From the idea of capturing the contrast between two bedrooms in a house I concentrated on capturing my sister in her room at the one place she uses the most; her desk. This image wasn't posed it was captured to show raw emotions as she looks into her laptop. The images are highly contrasted giving it a intense atmosphere that my sister's room has as it's not very personal to her.
